  Alternative universe in which you lack the ability to see color until you touch your soulmate for the very first time. The story shall be viewed from the reader's perspective, so I decided to use non-gender specific words to replace labels such as &quot;she&quot; or &quot;he.&quot;

Hi readers! This is a short story which was inspired by my own experiences. It's been two years since I left my love and up until now, I'm still struggling to get over him. I had to let go of his hand not because I wanted to but because I had to make a sacrifice for someone else's sake and happiness. He was my greatest 'what if' and I was his greatest regret. Although most of the scenes happened in real life, the rest are pure imagination especially the intense and happy part. We may have just been a "once upon a time" in real life but in this story, I made what should've been our 'happily ever after'. In this society, everyone has a soulmate. And the way to find yours is just look. Along with a soulmate, everyone has a small tattoo on their cheek with a symbol. Some could be a star, a flower, a yinyang, a fish, or even waves. There are so many people that the symbols are almost limitless. The tattoos don't care about gender or number. There could be gay matches, and there could even be polyamorous matches. The tattoos will tingle when you are near to your sm. And they will glow if you have found only one of your sm's if your match was poly. The trick is, you don't get the tattoo until you are 16. And even if you are near your match, as long as one of you are not of age, your tattoo will not tingle. Also, they are normal tattoos (except you don't get it or choose it, it just appears) so you can get rid of it. But if you do, your sm won't die but they will get very sick. The main characters of this story, Violet West (18) and Harper Black (20), both have a flame tattoo on their cheek. They live in the same state but for 4 years Harper paniced because she couldn't find her match. She wasn't sure if it was because her sm wasn't of age yet or if her sm lived far away. For 2 years Violet also paniced but she knew that some people don't find their sm for 5-10 years after they come of age, so she wasn't as scared as Harper.
