Emmett spends a lot of time by himself, holed up in his room. He loves his dads but in all honesty, he prefers to be alone. He doesn't have friends and he doesn't do homework. Emmett just thinks. That's just who he is. He's his own person and his life has been dedicated to being himself.
Until Daniel moves in next door, that is. Daniel fits into one specific stereotype, but not because he's conforming to society. Daniel is just as much his own person as Emmett is, only more predictable in his ways. Emmett catches Daniel's eye the moment he sees his new neighbor and wedges himself into Emmett's life.
Can these two opposites prove that opposites attract? Or is it just another stupid saying?
