Almost 300 years ago human kind destroyed the world. All of the pollution from our factories, power plants, and cities finally took its toile on the earth. The ice caps melted causing sea levels to rise and sending half of the world underwater. Cities, states, even countries vanished below the cold and unforgiving waves. Not only did our pollution affect the ice but it also created holes in our atmosphere allowing harmful rays sent from the sun to break through. Carbon Dioxide started to leak in while oxygen rapidly escaped our once protective bubble. Less oxygen in the air and shifts in the weather quickly occurred. Almost ¾ of the population dies in the first month. But not us. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hundreds of years later, humans once again walk on the surface again after living underground for hundreds of years, while the earth repaired itself from the hideous pollution from mankind. Bryony's parents and their generation were the first ones in over two-hundred years to walk on the surface. Bryony grew up on this beautiful and dangerous new earth. She has survived on her own ever since her parents died when she was 15. Now she is 19 and is still learning how to make her make way and survive in the brutal and unforgiving place once called Earth. But things change when Emerson stumbles into her home. Changing her life from its steady and predictable path to one she could have never imagined.
