Breaking Form is the story of a young girl who can't seem to get it right. Terribly naive and inadequate to those around her, she haplessly stumbles through life with a pleasant acceptance. Bullied by peers and administration alike, her home offers neither refuge or kindness, but for her cat Precka.
An unfortunate accident leaves Precka dead and our story's character yet again alone, and now forced to face the hopelessness of her reality. Now aware of it, it must be seen whether or not she can find a way to liberate herself from it.
The way in which she attempts to is unique, and may cause her more pain than she has ever experienced, but there will be no regrets.
Breaking Form is a dark, savagely satirical story of a senseless young girl trying to flounder through life and perhaps find some relief. Her simple, still childlike narrative will disarm you as it allows you a glimpse into the life of the unwanted.
"Intrinsic dignity... if I ever had that, I lost that a long time ago."
Breaking follows the life of a young teenager by the name of Leo Young. If losing his mother at a small age wasn't enough, his father has put it on himself to avenge his wife by mentally, emotionally, and physically destroying his son.
For many years now, Leo has come to accept this as his fate, a constant cycle of pain and torture. That is when Leo, upon going to a new school to realize his father's dream of becoming the musical star his mother once was, meets a group of five boys. These boys appear to be almost shining beacons as they live their lives in friendship and delight in the path that their dreams have set before them. Will they light a fire of hope within the dark-eyed boy's despairing heart to love himself, or will the weight of his reality come crashing down upon him in the end?
