Self-managed learning refers to a process of initiating the learning process by oneself. This is being determined by the way the clear goals, aims, objectives and the targets for learning are being set by an individual. Learning is an unending process.Till the time a human is alive, he continues to learn from self, others and even from his environment. Lifelong learning refers to a process wherein the professional development, self-directed learning and further education and knowledge continue to grow in all respects 
The self-learned people are able to apply their newly acquired skills for the growth and progress of the company and its people - When the organization will have competent people then they will help in resolving the issues and problems of the company and hence make it a progressive unit. 
It is always advisable that an individual develops a developmental plan with respect to his personal and professional goals. When he will track and list down the various aims and objectives and accordingly monitors the progress in terms of their planning and success then surely he will be able to meet them. Once an individual works on his own plans and programs then he surely would gain a lot of learning and an insight on the level of his achievement vis-a-vis his objectives. When these goals are being listed and I do not follow them to achieve through self-learning then I may feel ashamed that I have be unable to achieve them within the timeline or the deadline.
Personal and professional development is quite essential for each and every individual so that he develops and grows in his personal and professional life. He will be able to make changes and improvisations in his attributes, characteristics and the features. There is a necessity that the individual tend to learn from himself as well as his environment. He needs to be self-motivated to make changes in him. He needs to set aims and objectives as a part of his developmental plan.
