Some are addicted to a game, some are addicted to drugs, others, like Ivy Moretz, are addicted to pain. Ivy cannot live without the pain she receives full-force on an almost daily basis. Pain is her odd, and sometimes frightening, substitution for drugs and alcohol others use to disappear their problems. But, when Ivy is transferred to a 'stereotypical' high school, she is convinced that her life at the new high school will be agonizing hell. When Jake Roberts, a sweet, gorgeous guy Ivy meets, Ivy starts to slowly, day-by-day, loose her need of pain.
