The Severance

*Set in an unusual world and time period that makes it Science fiction (despite evidence to the contrary, you will find out as you read).

Lady Alice Jones has no wish to marry the Emperor unless she can play the ballroom in her vicious favour, but what happens when arrangements do not go as planned? As the closing of a new year approaches and her deception is revealed, what will this mean for House Jones of the dystopian, crumbling city of Shroudever?
"No one leaves the buildings, the fortifications. Their fear and assumptions much too great. No one leaves except for them and other members of House Jones". Perhaps that is what the Emperor wanted in their marriage, a unification between two families living completely different lifestyles to make Shroudever great again and to rebuild. However, young socialist Alice Jones was not convinced.
