Elsie is a girl. And August is a boy.
But this isn't a girl meets boy story.

When an old family friend asks for a favour, Elsie wasn't exactly expecting his son August to move into her families New York penthouse. She also wasn't expecting him to look like a Burberry model, either. And she really wasn't expecting him to be a giant pain in her ass. Or to have a guitar case full of secrets.

But all the secrets in the world can't change the fact that Elsie just might be with the wrong guy.

And maybe, just maybe, August figures that out before even Elsie does.
Will he help her open her eyes? Or will he let her live her life playing pretend?

OooOOOOooOOoOOOOOOOooooh!
How mysterious. How romantic.
The suspense is KILLING me.
Literally.

But in all seriousness, I've started writing again because it seems to be the only time I'm not anxious, go figure! And I wanted to share that with you lovely humans. Or you might even be aliens. Whatever. I'm not one to discriminate.

Stay tuned Amigos, I'm predicting a bumpy ride.

But like, the Space Mountain kind, not the flat-tyre, deflated kind.

ANYWAYS,

A delayed flight. A stranger at a hotel bar. A one night stand. Stranded in New York for an extra night than planned due to a delayed flight, I needed to find a way to keep myself occupied, and I soon found that something. It was easy enough when the handsome stranger introduced himself to me as Kade. It has been a while since I have had a hot one-night stand, and he reminds me how fun it can be. There are no questions, expectations or reasons to see one another again. What I don't expect is our night together to come around and bite me in the ass. When I arrive at a family dinner with my parents and two older sisters to celebrate my return home to Scotland, he is sitting right there with them. Not only is he my father's new business partner, but he is my sister's blind date set up by my parents. We pretend to be strangers because things would become complicated if we didn't. No one ever needs to know about what happened between us. My dad would freak out if he found out about us because he is overly protective of me as the youngest, and with the age gap between Kade and me, my father wouldn't approve. My relationship with my older sister is already strained; I don't need to make things worse between us. Even though he doesn't seem interested in her and he tries his best to show that it could still make all hell break lose. My sister hates losing. She always gets what she wants. I should stay away from him, but it is easier said than done with the tension and chemistry between us, and we struggle to fight against it. No matter what happens, it needs to be our secret to keep.

All's fair in love and babysitting. • • • Shailene Avery is hated by one person, and one person only: Brayden Ferguson Fields. Saturated in sarcasm and edgy teenage angst, Brayden is the one person Shailene cannot understand, like, or even pretend to get along with. And no matter how nice she is to him at their frequent neighbourly get-togethers, or as they stand awkwardly at the bus stop in the mornings, or during the countless nights of having to babysit their younger siblings together ("because double date night" is the lacklustre reason given by her parents), she still cannot get through to him. Because he hates her. And that is that. Brayden Fields has 99 problems, and his pain-in-the-ass neighbour is one of them. Shailene Rose Avery is loved by everyone for reasons Brayden can't even try to understand. Her incessant chattering and fruitless attempts at friendship give him a migraine, and he only ever talks to her when he absolutely has to. Honestly, if he had to choose between being poisoned by anthrax or spending an entire day with her - well, let's just say he'd have a hard time deciding. They avoid each other as much as possible, because - let's be honest - it's better that way. But what happens when they don't get a say? What happens when fate decides to throw them together over and over again? What happens when they learn there's more to a book than just the cover? | does this have a plot??? who even knows. also idk why it says completed April 2020, I finished this book in 2017 lol | highest rank - #107 babysit #75 thirdperson

And the strangest thing; Dakota sees himself right there with him, holding Andy lovingly in his arms. Even with the single source of warmth, Dakota is still left with the fear and pain of others' deaths. But only 8 days. He only needs to last 8 more days. Then Dakota ends it all.
