Love; always perceived as such an astonishing thing. People always forget to mention, or perhaps consciously avoid talking about the dark side of love, romance and passion. Fairytales show us the positive, unrealistic side of love, giving many girls high expectations.

But not Hayley.
Hayley lacks confidence, and often doesn't trust her own judgement. But what she soon realises is that maybe sometimes; she's right.

Hayley doesn't believe that she's capable of making new friends, when her family decide to move from the town they've lived in all their lives, she doesn't believe that her so called perfect sister is struggling with problems of her own, and she doesn't believe that awkward, annoying Damien might have fallen in love with her.

But maybe It's best that way. As Hayley soon starts to come face to face with reality, she realises that sometimes It's best to shield your heart, and let your decrepit mind stick to what it knows best.

TW: this book may contain mentions of violence and of suicide. DISCLAIMER #1: I wrote this story when I was a teen and while some mental disorders are the focal point, they may not be accurate representations as I was far from being a psychologist. There are several things Lynn doesn't quite get about the world she lives in, which makes it harder for her to figure herself out. She is not your average teenager. She's young, intelligent, though something about her is off by now. Everyone is quick to misjudge and point fingers, everything and everyone is so corrupted that she's afraid she'll lose herself among a bunch of wandering, empty souls. Therapy can only help so much, depression is hard to die, and in Lynn's case it's caused solely by the fact she doesn't 'fit in'. She can't really find her place in the world. But there's something really special about her; Her dreams are haunted by a wonderful, mystical place. No one understands her, they think she's off her rocker, that she needs to cut her childish daydreams. But Lynn knows deep in her heart that place really exists, and she'll do anything to find it, with the help of some new found friends. There's only one thing she must do: Keep an open mind, it brings open hearts and open eyes. -- DISCLAIMER #2 This fanfiction is inspired to Mind Over Matter by Pvris and their lyrics in general. All you read here is fiction. every reference to real events or people is purely coincidental. I do not own the songs featured in the book. We are not the broken clichés you want us to be anymore. We have transcended beyond the "Good Girl ~ Bad Boy" boxes they tried to put us in. We are so far beyond all that now, that we are finally free of all those stereotypes. The story of us is not the usual cliche "good girl" meets "bad boy" that instantly fall in love. Oh, and after a few almost funny mishaps everything works out perfectly story. Or the other one where the brooding bad boy with a tragic past gets a second chance to become a happy, well-adjusted person again. All thanks to the love of an awesomely perfect popularity princess with a pure heart of gold. Who sees "something special" inside him, that no one else can see ...and sets him on a straight path. All that once in a lifetime fairy dust love, that only exists for perfect pretty popularity princesses in the happily ever after. No, this is the other kind of love story ...the messy kind, that messes peoples lives up irrevocably, for all time. The real kind of love story, that comes hand in hand with hopes and fears, and all that real hurt that burns at your heart. So while our Crazy love might not be as bright and shiny as that fairy dust love is ...our love will kick your loves ass any day of the week, and twice on Sunday. Because our love knows the secret truth about itself. That it's not about how perfectly you fall in love, it's how you get the back up after love kicks your ass sideways, and you come back looking for more. Because our love is that Crazy kind of love, that is so forever you have to fight for it 'till the bitter end ...or die trying. The kind of love that comes with beer, pizza, football and a hell of a lot of laughs ...but mostly at everyone else's expense. ~First Place Chicklit - 2017 Blue Rose Award~ ~ Second Place for Teen Fiction - The Star Blazer Awards 2018~ ~ Honorable Mention for Best Plot - 2017 Royalty Awards ~
