Lost Star

I'm a lost star in this night sky. I'm a speck of dust in the galaxy. Searching for meaning. Are we all lost stars trying to light up the dark?

Seventeen year old Basil Simmons is a senior at Brier Ridge High School. He has led a hard life these last three years. The death of his mother, the abuse from his father. He is just trying to survive his last year of high school, hoping that when it ends he can escape his hell.

But things never seem to go to plan.

Things get harder for Basil when his father suddenly loses his job and takes his frustrations out on the only person he can; Basil. Basil finds it harder and harder to go on. But he forces himself to get up every morning, even though he knows the day will only bring more pain. He doesn't want to give up but he can't find meaning to his life. He is a burning star and his light is fading fast.

Should he give up?

Carter Landry doesn't think so. Carter Landry is a popular boy, somewhat of a cliche. Football player, attractive, a bit of a jerk, flirt. But he's smart and knows right from wrong. So when he gets partnered up with Basil for a school project, how will he react to the boys skittishness? To the bruises he catches glimpses of? Will he try to help the hurting boy or turn a blind eye?
