Trees flew by Alex as he bounced up and down on his seat, the potholes on the road more prominent than the road itself. He had finally finished his training and was now war ready. Bright eyed and bushy tailed, Alex couldn't help but to grin. Since his mother was dead and his father couldn't care less, Alex had signed up to join the war. But, Alex had lied about his age. He wasn't eighteen but had only just turned fifteen two months previous. Alex was desperate for adventure though and he felt that the only way he could be useful was to join in on the war effort.

There's one thing that nobody knows about Alex though and that is he does not feel anything sexual or romantic towards women or girls his age. The boys his age and men though are another story. This is one secret that really is life or death and not nearly as serious as him lying about his age.

Not even his friends Manuel and Tommy know. Especially Tommy, the boy who he has loved since they were ten years old.

(All songs linked to each chapter are actual stories told in the form of song. They all occurred in the year 1943. For chapter four, the story of the song there is mentioned. This story is not super historically accurate.)

But she gained Easy Company. Alice and the rest of Easy Company have been through six long months of combat already. They've seen friends die. But they're about to enter the toughest months yet. Alex Thompson was due to marry her high school sweet heart Eric Ramirez. Period. That's it. It's about as exciting as her life ever got really. She had a job, a good job but an unconscious reality was that she was bored. She had her back blown out once every three months, if that, and an overbearing mother who made her life hell. *enter Mitch* Eve 'Mitch' Mitchell. An outgoing, strong minded, independent, raging homosexual, lover to all, charming British soul. They meet by accident after a tough day at the office for Alex. A mistaken identity was all it took for a tiny little kiss. A moment blown all out of proportion for the Christian-bred Miss Thompson and her life turns more miserable than she anticipated for every time she turned around...Mitch was there behind her. Something about Mitch was new and fresh and her soul was just what Alex needed (little did she know). Secrets from the past are brought to the surface. A sad ending to a young lady's life. A realisation that family isn't always blood related. Alcohol isn't a medicine. Violence isn't a key. Hearts were never meant to be broken. Two things to take away: you never know what is going on in someone's head and the most important thing...you never know what happens behind closed doors. A/N just a random story about two people who meet accidentally. Plays with gender norms and very inclusive of LGBTQ (being a member myself). Could be triggering I'm not sure as some identity questions are thrown around. It does include smoking, drinking, some homophobia, profanities, violence and smut. Also anything in brackets with A/N means authors note and that's just me leaving a little comment. Enjoy...

This town's an absolute hellhole, so the locals will tell you. What happens if you have to defend it? It's a classic story: a Scottish ex-mining town that's barely survived its own demise since the '80s. They take care of their own here, which means that people like Alex, a young English woman who was dragged up by this town rather than raised by it, get pushed to the sides when it comes to friendship, loyalty, belonging. That is, until the war comes. When the town is abandoned to enemy forces by a worn and rapidly retreating British army, Alex has to decide between committing to protect a people that have never shown her true affection, or deserting them altogether to suffer a terrible fate.
