Bella broke when Edward left, that much was obvious to everyone, even those who hadn't known the depth of the two's relationship. Charlie didn't know what to do. Bella wouldn't eat, wouldn't shower, wouldn't even get out of bed for weeks. Just as he's about to ship her off to Jacksonville, something amazing happens. Billy and Jacob Black pay Charlie a visit, and when Bella sees Jacob, things start to change. Will Bella be able to let Edward go? Will Jacob be able to pick up the broken pieces of her heart?

"Why did you come here, Bella?" She didn't have an answer. Not one that made sense. Not one that would sound fair to him. "I didn't know where else to go," she said finally. It came out softer than she meant. Jacob stared at her. "You always come to me when you're falling apart. But never when you're okay." --- After Edward leaves, Bella is broken. Jacob Black is there as always, offering her warmth, loyalty, and safety. But everyone has a breaking point. Taking place after Bella and Jacob's motorcycle scene in New Moon, this is an alternate story of melancholy romance, soul-deep connection, and gut-wrenching moments, where Bella must decide if loving again is worth the fire and Jacob must learn love's true cost. This is not about the imprint. This is about everything that comes between and after.
