Dive into the world of Pacemterra, an enchanting land ruled by mythological oddities, impossible creatures, and sentient dragons. Since the Great Uncovering of the New World, magic and mystery now run rampant through this once frozen wasteland. This particular series is for the imaginative reader who adores legend, mystical adventures through the unknown, and - especially - dragons. Follow the story of Iezwil, a young dragoness with rare abilities to foresee the future, as she treks through all creation in search of the meaning behind her strange visions.
~*~Book One of the Dragons of Kasper Series~*~
Visions of far away places and foreign figures begin to flow through Iezwil's dreams, ushering her to venture into the great unknown. Everywhere, she faces judgement from her own kind for her strange psychic abilities and peculiar appearance. When she meets Nio, another "dark dragon" like herself, their true potentials as dark dragons begin to slowly emerge.
An ice dragon turns up mysteriously murdered on the border of Venator with peculiar wounds in his chest cavity, and though the local gryphon village thinks little of it, Nio and Iezwil are puzzled by the event and are determined to track down the killer to protect the residents of Pacemterra. Their discoveries lead them to a stunning Ice Fortress among the Ruins of Perniciem, home to the headstrong Saneous Clan. The difference between peace and chaos hangs in the compromise with this clan and their demands for power, a villain must abandon his morals to save his brother's life, and confrontation will call for an assembly with the great Elders. If middle ground cannot be decided upon, Pacemterra may very well be on the brink of war.
"I've tried telling them I'm only fifteen. That no sane government would force a boy my age to fight crime. 'But Max, you're a superhero! Isn't this what you want?' Actually, no. I just kind of want to get through high school. Then we'll talk about this 'superhero' business."
Max Owens is your average high school sophomore.
Well, he tries to be, at least.
At fifteen, he's got more important things to do than fight the infamous Vinicus Cauldwell. With his single mother having recently lost her job, Max is determined to help his family get back up on its feet. The publicity and pressure that comes with being a superhero would be too much to handle right now. But it's hard to fly under the radar, when you can literally fly.
Meanwhile, Vinicus Cauldwell enjoys the power he has as Murkbourne's most feared super-villain. For once, he can sit back and relax without being pestered by the police. That is, until Max arrives. Vinicus isn't happy about having to fight a child, but he can't let Max find out. After all, super-villains can't be "good people"... Can they?
We can't all be born heroes. But most of us are Heroes at Heart.
