Set in 1994, Painting God's Kingdom tells the story of suburban life through the eyes and journal entries of protagonist, Calvin Bird, a teenager who feels too much, but couldn't care less. Calvin, a self-proclaimed artist and failing student, is struggling with anxiety. He is awkward at love and awkward at life. As high school draws to an end, Calvin fears he will be left behind by his friends to live and die an ordinary life. Painting God's Kingdom is about finding where you fit in, and the desire to leave one's mark on the world.




Painting God's Kingdom is a character-driven, coming-of-age Young Adult novel in the tradition of The Catcher In The Rye and The Perks Of Being A Wallflower.
