I was running as fast as I could. I tripped over my feet and fell to the cold hard side walk. I looked back in horror. But, nothing was there. I hurried and got up to my feet. I started running again. Running out of air caused me to slow down. I ended up about two blocks from my best friend's house. I walk kinda fast towards her house, hoping no one was still following me. I walked up to her door out of breath. I did our secret knock: knock three times loud then two soft. She looked, like really confused why I was there. "Sadie...i-i r-really need to come i-in" I said looking behind me. "Chris? What's going on?!" Saidie said moving out of the way. Trying to catch my breath, "I don't know! Someone broke into the house...I Heard mom and dad scream...i-i ran into Isaac's room but he wasn't in there.... So panicked and ran and someone started running after me." I said falling into her arms crying. Sadie hugged me tight. "It's going to be alright...I promise. Here let me go wake up Dad and we can ca-" Sadie said, but was cut off mid sentence when there was aloud bang on the door. It caught us both by surprise and scared the living daylights out of me. I hurried and stood up and ran into Sadie's room and into her closet. I hurried wipped out my phone and called 911. " 911- what's your emergency?" A lady's voice came at the other end of the line..

His faces flashes with regret but it's quickly covered up with his faces going back to it's hard cold look. I feel my heart stop and my face go pale. His look terrified me making me hold my breath. "Breath." He orders. I start to breathe again and just blink at him. "Now go." He orders me again. I flinch involuntarily at his tone and jump back slightly. "Please don't let me walk home alone." I beg in a quiet voice, looking down at my feet. The next thing I see are his black combat boots right in front of my shoes. I look up into his eyes and he looks down into mine confusion written all over his face. "How come you aren't running yet?" He questions searching my eyes. "I just can't walk home alone, please I'm scared." I hear him chuckle. "You aren't afraid of me? What can possibly be scarier than me?" He asks. "Well, I know you will keep me safe." "Why is that?" The "Please..." I hear her whimper and I go into full panic mode. "Calm down, okay? Deep breaths. Don't hang up. I'll be with you soon. Where are you?" I rush as I grab the car key sitting on the glass table. I run into the garage with my dad behind me. "What do you need?" Dad asks "A room. A big one." He runs back inside as I hear her voice again. "Basement...blood...Elle..." I hear sounds of movement in the background and connect the dots. Elle's bleeding, or something... "Deep breaths baby, deep breaths. It's okay, you're okay" I murmur reassuring words to her, thankful that there's no traffic. Several thoughts run through my mind as I drove to her house. As I see my mom walk out the door I look at my dad smiling at me. The way he smiled at me made realize how afraid he was. I glance at him and give him a fake smile before he comes up to me and gives me a hug. The warmth of his body was reassuring but I feel the tears start to come down his face.
