In the middle of the battle while instructing the other dragons, Natsu gets distracted when he sees Lucy and blacks out. He was shot out of the sky and taken into Fairy Tail's custody. When Acnologia saw this he was amused and impressed by the boy and together they went out to slay Dragons. Over the year Acnologia grew attached to the Natsu like his own son, he enjoyed the Boy. But one day Acnologia decides to part with Natsu so the boy could go on his own adventures and make friends and mates as Natsu is a special Dragon with unlimited magic at his disposal. Acnologia gave him three gifts a scarf made out of his scales, A Cloak just like his, and Katana made from an iron Dragon claw. It's Sharpness could cut a mountain in half with just a swing.
