Josephine was the beautiful, insecure girl who went by Joey. She was neither introverted nor extroverted, but a melody of personalities. She had always stuck up for those around her, often getting into fights for her friends and family, causing her to be covered in scars. She was a botanist and a college freshman who entered with an associates and was looking to pursue a major in Veterinary Science. She entered college with her best friend, Jenny.

Jenny was a timid and enchanting girl who tended to catch her male classmates' looks. She always chuckled back at these actions due to her secret: she was a lesbian. She knew this since grade school, and told Josephine everything. Joey, being so protective and loyal to her peers, completely understood and shielded Jenny from the hateful world around them.

However, Jenny wasn't the only one with a secret: Joey was completely in love with Jenny. She could never admit this though, because their lifelong friendship was the most important thing to her. But eventually, Joey is left with two choices: will she pursue the love of her life or play it safe until death do they part?

In the fall after her high school graduation, Danielle Davis has been spending her days lying alone in her shared New York City apartment. Attempting to fill the ticking time, she fills her moments painting empty canvases and ignoring her roommate as much as she possibly can without her actually noticing. But she can only go so long without seeing her, and at their once a month lunch date her roommate brings along a guest. Maren. Excerpt: She was paler than I first remember her, wearing clothes three times larger than her own frame, little effort put into her outfit compared to the first time I met her. She looked confused too for a second, and then she leaned down to pull her sandals off, making herself comfortable in someone else's home. Maren didn't seem like the kind of girl to spontaneously show up at someone's house, maybe I had misjudged her. "Beth's not here." My face remained blank while we made eye contact, she stood up, her natural height just a little taller than my own. Her gaze settled on me, her eyebrows were slightly furrowed. Head to toe, and back again her eyes flickered. She didn't answer my statement. "I didn't think you'd be here." "I live here." I deadpan, she's leaning against the door now, pulling her phone out of her pocket. "I know." *** This is my NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) project for this year! This is a raw, unfinished first draft of a story I've cooked up to keep me warm in the winter. Don't be surprised if there's incomplete sentences, memory problems, and forgotten moments. Writing a first draft is about getting the words on the paper and moving on. Editing will begin after I've finished the novel. Hmu writing buddies. ;)
His Heart, Mine by venuserve

She swears she hates him. He's convinced he hates her more. But when secrets, lies, and late-night whispers begin to blur the line between enemies and something they wouldn't even consider, neither of them is ready for what's coming. *** Aliana is loud, impulsive, and dangerously unpredictable. She lies when she's scared, smiles when she's breaking, and keeps everyone away with her endless sarcasm and sharp tongue. She doesn't need anyone. Especially not him. Ali is silent storms and cold stares. The boy with the bad reputation, a past no one talks about, and a temper that makes people flinch. He wants nothing to do with drama, especially when it wears red lipstick and calls him names. They can't stand each other. So why do they keep ending up alone in the same room? Why does every fight feel like foreplay? And why does hating him hurt more than it should? ~~~~~~ He kisses me, again and again, raw and consuming, and then pulls away; I can feel his green eyes piercing my soul. "What you told me last time, say it again," he whimpers breathlessly. "What?" I manage to ask, confused, and reel him in again for another kiss. He pulls back again, his breath hot against my skin. "That you hate me, tell me that you hate me." "I hate you," I tell him almost instantly, the lie burning on my tongue. He kisses me harder and more hungrily, and the words slip out again from my tongue: "I hate you. I hate you. I hate you." His murmurs deepen into groans, and at this exact moment, I ask myself how I'm still standing, still breathing, still present. ~~~~~~

Eden College student Josephine "Jo" Hayes is trying to get through her senior year without any hiccups. She has somehow made it through the past three years without any serious friend or boy drama, and she intends to keep it that way, especially after her difficult high school experience. All she wants is to spend time with her friends, party while she's still young, and get top grades to prepare her for law school. There's simply no time for anything serious in the world of Jo. Colton Cavanaugh is a recent transfer to Eden College, where he is expected to take on the role as star player of the Eden Eagles, their hockey team. He has a reputation as a player, and his charm and good looks do nothing to help save the girls of Eden from heartbreak. But Colton couldn't care less; his only goals for the year are getting barely-passing grades, go pro, and party. A lot. When the two first cross paths, the experience is rather unpleasant, leaving them both with a sour impression of each other. Jo thinks Colton is an arrogant and childish, and Colton sees Jo as argumentative and stubborn. But as they continue to run into each other, will their feelings change?
