Marcus parked in the empty space beside her car and took her hand before she could open the door. "When can I see you again, Katie?" he asked. She looked at him and saw something in the depths of his amber eyes that almost frightened her. "I don't know, Marcus." "Can I at least have your number?" Katie's smile was sad as she shook her head. "What would be the point? You need to take care of business so you can go home to Colorado. I have to concentrate on getting my life back on track. Besides, I've never understood long-distance relationships. Do they ever really work?" Marcus said nothing as he pulled a business card from his breast pocket. He placed it in her hand and raised her hand to his lips. The contact made Katie shiver. She opened the door and began pulling away. "Goodbye, Marcus." Marcus's grip tightened as he shook his head. "Not goodbye, Katie," he said, holding her gaze. "I'll find you again. Your eyes are going to haunt me until I do." Publishing this Halloween :D
