I was running.

I felt free, which was ironic seeing as how just a few moments before I was dangerously close to being captured. My feet flew instinctively one after another underneath me and my arms pumped back and forth in balance. My eyes were trained ahead, searching for any signs of danger. My ears were filled with the steady beat of my heart, but quickly zoned in on the slightest disturbance of sound like a snapping twig or an animal scurrying up a tree.

With every thud that my feet hit, I repeated the word run to myself. Run. Run. Run. It's what I do best, and what I've had to do my whole life. It's what I'll have to do until they can be stopped.
