The Forgotten Pines

Stan gets sucked into the portal instead of Ford. Ford goes crazy for years trying to get him back.

Dipper and Mabel are turning 16 and Dipper is going to college early after their birthday. On their birthday, their parents give them an old video from their late grandfather on the Pines side of the family. The video is of a pair of twins that they have never heard of. With the video is a note from their grandfather, requesting that they find out what happened to the twins in the video. Dipper, who is too concerned with preparing for college, could care less about this. But Mabel, feeling abandoned by her brother, runs away from home vowing to find these forgotten twins. The relative she finds, however, is not what she expected.

Her Great-Uncle Stanford is twitchy and jumpy and often says words she doesn't understand. He talks to himself. He only writes in this odd code that's hard for her to decipher. His house isn't well-kept and looks like it could fall apart at any moment. Mabel often wonders if he's mentally stable or if his mind cracked years ago. She decides to help fix up his house and make it better to live in again. She discovers the portal in the basement and learns about what happened to the missing twin, Stanley. She vows to help bring him back before her parents finally track her down and drag her back home.
