Not everyone can say that they've been to New York City. And not everyone can say that they live there. Luckily, I am one of those people.
Although the city is the most exciting and beautiful place on Earth, it has its flaws.
The increasing number of homeless people, finding a job that pays well is a difficult endeavor and crimes are a common occurrence.
It wasn't until recently that I realised the city's biggest secret.
The Five Families.
For those of you who don't know what I mean when I say 'the Five Families', I'm talking about the Mafia.
The Five Families are the five major Italian-American Mafia crime families which have dominated organized crime in New York City since as far back as the 1930s. The families go by the names; Lucchese, Genovese, Gambino, Bonanna and Colombo.
Of course I've heard of the Mafia, and I know what it is, but I always thought that it didn't actually exist. But then again, this is New York we're talking about here.
It all began on a late Saturday night when I was walking home from a friend's 21st.
Of course at the time, I had no idea that the mysterious stranger who saved my life was the leader of one of the Five Families.
