Ezebeth Bell is a vampire, and has been for 284 years. Her family was killed by the Vampire who turned her, Michael. Ever since then, she has been going through the years undetected. After years of silence, a fledgling, so she thinks, vampire breaks into her one of her Banks and kills her guards. She is forced to slowly come to the light of the new age with her friends Zoe Lively, and Rose Slice.
But question are asked, and Detective Joseph Rider doesn't let the case go. He's good at his job, and that might get him killed, but for some reason Ezebeth hopes he gets her. Things go wrong, yet right, when the whole truth comes to light.
