Because she is bullied by Natsu Dragneel, the hottest, coolest, smartest guy in the school. He torments her to death. Taking her diary, and reading it in front of the cafeteria, posting flyers up all over the school of a terrible altered photo of her, and giving her mental and physical beat downs. The only thing is, every time Natsu does something horrible, she tolerates it, and forgives him. Because Natsu hit his head one day, and forgot about her. Forgot about them being best friends. (I recently read this story over again and it is FREAKING SO DEPRESSING...all except for the ending. A lot of things happen very quickly but just bind with me.)

Lucy wakes up in a hospital. Only, no sound waves are vibrating in her ears. She's deaf, and the pink-haired guy sitting to her right saved her.
