Sequel to betrayal 593 years after death Percy goes for rebirth, but something is different, he has dreams so vivid it's like he's there. He can't understand when he sees these camps full of people. He's a good student even with his ADHD and dyslexia. His father is proud of him, his mother left him at his father's door step. He still loves water but his hair is of the darkest night and his eyes have a gold tint. His k-9 teeth are sharper and slightly longer than normal. One day, Percy remembers, and goes out of his way to save the world, with the most unlikely of person. --------- Artemis made do on her promise and moved to Alaska, she even left her hunters behind. The longer she spent in Alaska the more frigid and temperamental she became, she only allowed wolves to be around her so she wasn't much surprised when an old friend of hers came and told her that the maiden oaths were taken away unless you still wanted them. Artemis said no, and turned away.

Percy Jackson won the war, but the gods never let their heroes rest. Forced into a new, solitary service, he is the only male permitted to walk alongside the Hunters of Artemis in the choking darkness of the Appalachian Trail. He is not alone. A predator has found him-a terrifying, flesh-wearing entity that should not exist. And Percy is its target. As the creature begins its slow, psychological dismantling, the lines between sanity and madness blur. He can not sleep, he can not eat, and his legendary powers turn brittle as the entity feasts on his mind. To Artemis and her Hunters, this is not a monster attack; this is a warrior turning weak, a male proving their absolute skepticism right. Even Thalia, his closest friend, sees only lies. He is breaking, and they are watching him do it. By the time the Hunters realize the horrifying truth-that their newest Guardian - has been silently, ruthlessly targeted-it may be too late. Can they save the broken hero from a monster only he can see, or will the darkness in the woods consume the last piece of Percy Jackson before his allies even believe it exists?
