In the quiet town of Stonebridge, the summers are far too hot for the small population of 261 to stay around all summer. Almost everyone leaves to go on vacation. So when the summer heat brings a mystery with it, the suspects are limited. For the few who stayed in town, they all think its the new kid, Jayson Grey. But Megan Roden doesn't believe he would do anything like that, or, would he? Now, Meg, Jay, and their friend Andy, have to figure out who it was that graffitied the school, and trashed the whole town. Was it someone from school? Someone else? Or one of them? And when someone sends them a mysterious letter, they have to figure out who sent it fast, before someone ends up seriously injured, or worse.

Many characters to follow up. You have the scenes/emos. Then you have the popular/everyone knows who they are. Meet Natalie, the girl who is a social reject. She's in this world where she speaks only when spoken to. She's in this group where people like her don't respect anybody. Then you have Harry, the guy everyone knows and the guy everyone adores. He doesn't hurt a fly. When Natalie and Harry actually meet, things starts to change in both groups. Natalie's ex-boyfriend is trying to be protective of her and trying to win her back. Harry's friends are trying to keep him away from Natalie and the scene crowd. But Harry can't help himself. And neither can Natalie.
