The Return: An Alec Lightwood fanfiction

Avery has had a rough life. Parents are dead, ex-boyfriend is MIA, and dealing with the perils that come with being a shadowhunter only further upset her world. The only constant she has in her life is Alec. He's always there for her, even when she doesn't think she needs him.
She wants to allow herself to feel the way she does for him, but she has a duty as a shadowhunter to protect the people of New York. Avery is doing a somewhat okay job of it, but when her past comes back to haunt her, everything is turned upside down. Will Avery be able to choose between her two loves; the boy who makes her feel down to earth in an otherwise topsy turvy world, or the job she was born into, the job she loved so much?
