Calypso Buchanan and Adam Dumitresco have been friends since they were wee little ones after discovering their mutual love for making up stories and writing. At the age of 17, Calypso and Adam get their first book published together. After 6 months of many accreditations, high appraisals from critiques, and earning thousands of book loving fans, Adam dies from a triggered genetic heart disorder. Calypso is then forced to deal with the grief over losing her best friend, what she wants to do with her future, and the stubborn fans who are begging her to write another story but Calypso realizes she just can't because writing isn't her absolute passion.
In the midst of it all, Finn Alden, a destructive boy of Calypso's past, has been forced off his high school's baseball team after his recovery from tearing his ACL in a preseason game takes too long for the coach to reserve his spot. Finn struggles with the pressure of his father over losing his place on the baseball team and his unraveling family. Now with too much free time, Finn decides to re-enter Calypso's life when he sees her from afar one day.
With a hurting heart, Calypso let's Finn into her world of surfing, books and music but will Finn's cataclysmic nature only bring her more pain? Or will a new stranger teach Calypso the true meaning of healing?
