Beneath the Capitol's Gaze

17 parts Ongoing Mature

This story follows Melody Thatcher, a victor from District 12, as she navigates the 70th hunger games and life after the 70th Hunger Games. Though celebrated as a hero, Melody's victory is marred by the Capitol's cruelty. Forced into the trafficking of Capitol citizens, she must endure the same horrors that victors like Finnick Odair have faced. At first, Melody despises Finnick-charming, carefree, and a symbol of everything she resents. But as both are exploited by President Snow and the Capitol, their shared trauma slowly turns animosity into an unexpected friendship. Finnick has been secretly pining for Melody since their brief dance at her victory party whether he realizes it or not. He grows closer to her as they bond over their pain and survival. As their relationship evolves from friendship to something deeper, Melody struggles to trust Finnick, wary of her own emotions. Together, they navigate the Capitol's manipulation and form a connection that may be the only thing keeping them from losing their humanity.
