Arrogant, foul-mouthed, mercurial Victoire Brigham isn't in the best of moods- but then again, she rarely is. Her adopted parents are lying to her, her best friend is going through a crisis, and the pain in her jaw is agonizing. One night at the Santa Monica Pier, a fortune teller who calls herself The Woman of Antiquam tells Victoire that her entire life has been a lie. Annoyed, Victoire dismisses the woman and goes back to comforting Giovanna, babysitting the twins, and trying to figure out her feelings for Dean Calen. 

Until one night, her temper snaps and she sinks her fangs into someone's neck. 

And then, Victoire learns that she is a Velah. 

Running from a past she didn't know had, Victoire throws herself into a scavenger hunt following the sinister lines of childhood nursery rhymes and bringing her to one beautifully foreboding abandoned building after another. Each song brings her closer and closer to her true heritage, but each song will threaten one person in her life whom she cares deeply about in a twisted game of matching. 

"Blood Eyes" is the first novel in "The Crimson Chronicles", the sequel trilogy to Sierra Daniels "The Emerald Chronicles". It focuses on a more gothic and creepy genre, but retains the world-creating, suspense- building, character-inspired series that launched "The Emerald Chronicles" forward. 

Rated PG-13 for: bloody violence; suspense; language; brief sexuality
