"They both stared at each other, neither one blinking. Ivy wasn't sure what more there was to say. Shrugging, she gave him a wave and turned towards the library. When she looked back over her shoulder, Kody was still watching her hoping she would come back to him. But she didn't. She wasn't Kody's to have, and she was with Aidan now.

When Ivy didn't return to him, his face fell. He looked crushed. As if the weight of the world had collapsed onto him all at once. I was crushed too. Kody didn't understand why I no longer loved him back. And unless my twin sister solved the murder of I, Isla May Gold, he would never get his answer."
