In 1932, a boy named Frank Iero is part of the well-known circus, Cirque du Folie. He was found as a young boy, homeless under a bridge, and brought into the circus to start a new life. Him and his small capuchin monkey, Marty, perform various acts for the show, and he is known as the monkey boy. When another performer comes into the picture, Frank's life is turned into a completely different perspective. Gerard Way, 'the great, magnificent, fearless, sword swallowing dragon dancer', is just another circus freak. Frank and Gerard grow a strange relationship like no regular circus pals would have, and must keep it a secret, for they can't reveal their true feelings.
