Joey was sent away from California to go to a 'Straight camp' as soon as he came out to his dad. Shane hadn't seen Joey, his bestfriend, since the 8th grade. He soon came out to his school, and was bullied ever since. Being without his best friend, and with the whole school hating him, he developed anorexia and has severe depression, causing him to cut and other forms of self harm.
