"It's kind of ironic, isn't it?" She laughed but there was a harshness behind her eyes that sent chills down my spine.

"He'll always pick you, won't he?" 

"But I'm in love with someone else." I explained.

She looked at me, holding back tears. "No, you don't understand. He's crazy about you."

"No!"

"Yes! You don't see, do you? If both of us were dangling off a cliff and he only had enough willpower to get one of us, who would he choose?"

"You-"

"No, Kat, no. When it all comes down to it, he'd think of himself."

She stared at me with her deep brown eyes, tears rolling down her cheeks.

"In the end, he'd save the girl he loves, not the girl who loves him."
