Whenever L feels those amber eyes boring into him, a strange fluttering sensation arises in his chest. And this scares the aloof detective more than anything. He is certain that the sensation is due to the uncomfortable intensity of Light's piercing gaze, because honestly, what else could it be? After all, the world's greatest detective does not have emotions and certainly not in the middle of an investigation, when all is at stake in this game of cat and mouse. L knows he must win at all costs.
Light constantly catches himself staring at the insomniac detective who continues to prove an enigma to the high school genius. Light is sure that he hates everything about L; that messy ebony hair, those unwavering, cold obsidian eyes and that spindly, pale figure of his. Yet there is something about the detective that irresistibly draws Light's attention. And Light is determined to figure out exactly what, by finally unraveling the puzzle that is L.
