On 11th of April 1997, the Goddesses were being hunted and killed. Hephaestus (fire),  Anemoi (air), Gaia (earth) and Poseidon (water). Their choices were be killed or sacrifice their magic to the mortals. Death in shame or death in honour. It was their choice. But if they gave their powers to the mortals, they too would be hunted. 

Their castle was being attacked. Stones fell from the roof that sheltered them. Then in a flash of light it was over, and the goddesses were no more that dead.
