When Cassie finds her father crying in the dining room, she doesn't know what to think. Soon, she finds her brother, Mason, and herself trapped in a world where sending kids off to a completely different planet for three years to make the area "livable" for others is the norm and that there is no escape. With the lead instructor of the Space Department dropping hints about the many deaths to come on the unknown planet, Cassie feels nervous and can't seem to stop worrying about her brother.
