I got the idea from Brandon Sanderson's Reckoners series.

Instead of Epics, there are Dragons with amazing and terrifying powers. There are people who fight Against them: the Knights of the Dragons. 

The leader of unit MK is Sharon, a Dragonling, a person who has been given powers from The Leader of the Dragon Knights.

Along with her friends and family, Sharon has to lead against the dragons that terrify her town; only to have one of her own turn against her.
