Welcome to the Warrior cats short story arc: Hills of Secrets! It takes place in the time even before Pinestar was even born, and this is the first book: The Lake of Mist.

In this book, the kits of a former loner are born to RiverClan: Snowkit, Sootkit and Smokekit. Then a few days after they are born, as well as three kits born to a former kittypet in ThunderClan, a deafening prophecy rips through the lake and the Clans:

"When darkness comes, silver clouds will save the Clans, ember will rise and its fire will spread to heal the lake."
