I lay here quietly in the dark. Hushing the cries of pain he caused me.

I lay here trying so hard not to scream.

I pull myself up from my bed in the night, in full tantrum mode and begin heading for the picture of us hanging on my wall.

I clench my fists as I cry, gasping for air as I drown in the memory of him.

Ripping the frame off the wall I become angry, fumbling to take the picture of us out to rip it.

The way he ripped out my heart and burned it.

"You won't ruin me again," I spit through raging tears.

"Look at me," The boy says and I keep my eyes lowered, "I said look at me."

My eyelashes flutter up to follow his demands, "I promised myself I would never love after him." I scold myself trying to keep a cold front.

He wipes away a tear that trickles down my cheek, "I promise to love you more than he ever did. Let me save you."
