Chapter One: Benjamin

Everyone has masks. Everyone. The three freaks of Milford High are no exception. Shaylee Sage, Carter and Rowan Miller are the three musketeers. All alone but for their group and enjoying it. Or maybe enjoying it isn't the right word. Living through it. Best friends and thick as theives, their hearts are anywhere but on their sleeves.

Tyler Nelson has hated Shay since they were kids. Goth girl of the century and practically allergic to soccer jocks like him, its no wonder. Why would he ever even consider the loud mouthed, wannabe Dracula living next door anything but the enemy? But when Shay's cousin moves in, sweet, hot, and the complete girl friend package, his life is about to get flipped over.

Benjamin Wright could do with out the drama of being in the popular group of the crowd. Never allowed to say what he wants with out having his state of mind questioned, he suffers in silence for the sake of his best friend, Tyler. The last thing he wants to be is ostracized like the Miller twins and Tyler's next door neighbor Shaylee. But when he starts to spend time with Rowan Miller, he starts to wonder whether suffering in silence is better or worse.

Carter Miller looks at the upside, the silver lining in life. After being in a divorce when he was eight and staying with his cheerful mother in a sunny little cottage across the tiny little town from his brother, he was raised to have a life of sunshine and roses. But when he starts to have a major crush on the flawless Georgina Sage, he realizes flaws may not be entirely visible.

Milford High is nothing but a masquerade, but it's time for the Milford masked players to have the worst thing happen to them: It's time for them to become unmasked.
