After the Three Ends, humanity's origin planet, Earth, was nothing but a shadow of what it used to be. The survivors, led by a man named Noah, were forced to venture out into the great void beyond their home. That was five hundred Earth years ago.

Humanity now resides on an assembly of dwarf planets in the Cospice Galaxy, the largest of which is called Arken, after Noah's Ark. And Arden is governed by one enormous political body:
