〰"You were a fool to ever believe in me."〰 Kaylee Williams has spent the past few years of her life on the run from her psychotic parents, never settling down or staying in one place for too long. That all changed when she saw on the news that a plane had gone down with both of her parents inside of it. Despite being packed full of doubt and trust issues, she finds her world shifting as she moves in with her aunt who lives in the small town of Ashford, Connecticut. With a couple of new friends and a frustrating boy who seems to think that he owns her, she finally starts to feel something that she hasn't felt in years. A sense of security. But when her past pops back into her present, she is reminded that normality is not for her and that she's not nearly as safe as she thought. And she may never be. 〰〰〰〰〰 A glimpse into Kaylee's past: "I found out I was adopted when I was 8. It never really bothered me though. My parents were still my parents to me and they were still the ones who raised me. I still loved them, and they still loved me. They could be a bit detached and unemotional sometimes, but they were never ones for affection. They started training me when I was 10. They didn't tell me what for, until I was 12 and they introduced me to the world of werewolves. And werewolf hunters. The latter category is what my family fell under. So imagine the irony when on my sixteenth birthday I sprout a pair of fangs and a tail. And also gain the good fortune of my parents trying to kill me. Yeah, happy sweet sixteen to me."
