The soles of my shoes were soaked as I ran through the rain. My tears mixed with the droplets on my cheeks as all of the emotions poured out. I pushed my feet faster, trying to ignore the other pair that were chasing after me.
"Max! Stop running!"
"No, just leave me alone!" I shrieked, my voice cracking.
A pair of hands grabbed me by the waist and ripped me around, my body slamming into another. I pounded my fists against his chest to no avail. He simply moved his hands to grip mine tightly against his cheek.
"Just let me explain! They were wrong!" I looked up into his eyes and they burned with sincerity but I couldn't trust him, not after what he did. With the rain as my aid, I slipped my hands from his and slowly backed away.
"Leave me alone!" I sobbed as I wheeled around into the street to cross the road.
I didn't hear his panicked warning, only the screeching of tires as the bus hydroplaned toward me.
