Astrid Hall had never felt so out of place before. It started when the words and pictures scrambled together, causing confusion. At age 8, she was diagnosed with Dyslexia, making life change dramatically. Now in high school, Astrid is thought of as stupid, dumb, and retarded at her school because of this impossible disorder.

Inside her head was where everything happened. She was brilliant, a genius even, but she couldn't get it out and her brain fuzzed everything up for her. Astrid always felt odd, as if it was impossible for her to do anything right.

Penelope Franks is a new teacher at Astrid's school, and she sees it all. She sees what Astrid can do, and now she won't stop until Astrid is appreciated for her intelligence and overcomes her dyslexia. Even if her job and reputation is risked majorly.

Demeter attends a prestigious boarding school with a logical brain and a lot of knowledge she finds useless, with all of the students having high grades and attending fun school events. But all that is nothing but a fabric of lies to cover up the truth. Demeter is already used to the strange things that happen in her school, from people screaming too loud, to people isolating themselves in a corner. This can even be considered normal. But as mysterious and disturbing deaths start appearing, Demeter knows this has to be the work of someone outside the school. She wants no part of it, as long as it has nothing to do with her. That was the rule she followed all her life. Don't stick your nose where it doesn't belong. But it seems that she was already a part of it, right from the beginning. Would her logic lead her and her friends to their downfall or would it be their weapon? One thing is for sure, she needs her friends and their uniqueness.

She has to suffer from her disability every day, while at the same time dealing with the people who see her as the odd one out.
