Eiren is a Card Witch, a feared master of magic that can summon monsters and gods alike out of her cards. Nobody knows except for her loyal street gang, the Starkeepers. But nobody understands the pride of having so much power, and the pain of being unable to use it. In addition to her Card Witch status, Eiren is hiding another secret. She is in fact an Oreios, a winged species that is mistrusted and hated by humans. She devotes her Card Witch power to concealing her wings, and in doing so keeps her two great secrets hidden. When the Starkeepers' hideout is attacked by their rival gang, the Hellraisers, and two of her best friends are killed, Eiren leaves her gang and races to the Hellraisers hideout for revenge. Little does she know that strong emotions reveal secrets better left untold...

“You can’t tell anyone,” she begged. “Please. You just can’t.” “Your secret is safe with me.” Travis assured. Alexa’s eyes popped open in shock. “That is, as long as you leave me alone. No more following me, trying to speak to me, or even looking at me. I refuse to be associated with someone like you. Those kinds of relationships are what get people killed, you know.” As much as she hated Travis now, Alexa didn’t want him dead. She never thought of her living being the cause of someone’s death until this moment. Hell, she didn’t even know her fourteen years had been a crime. “Fine. Deal. Whatever. But if this gets out I know exactly who to turn to.” “You’ll be imprisoned before you can get to me.”
