"NO!" screamed the broken girl. Her eyes swollen, and red. Her fingers desperately clutching at faded pink sheets, and a worn photo. Blinking away tears of absolute fear and rejection, she looked up; directly into the eyes of her grandmother. Her elderly eyes were anything but sympathetic as she crossed her arms and leaned against the doorframe.

White clothed bodies grabbed at the ever-shattering girl cowering in the corner, and tore her only sense of security from her shaking fingers. The photo floated to the floor gracefully as the mess of a girl was pulled from the bed, and out the door. Silence followed her absence, and the photo lay face up like a snowflake in a world of ashes. Ashes of the broken girl being carried into the stark white van. Ashes of Victoria.

"Please, stop," I begged, my voice cracking. Tears streamed down my face, my eyes swollen and burning. "I can't handle this anymore. Just stay away from me." His words, "Little Angel, don't say that. I'm here to love you," were like a cruel joke. Love? The word tasted like ash in my mouth. His actions screamed something entirely different. "Your sweet words won't change anything. I need you to keep your distance," I responded firmly, putting all my energy into my voice. My breath hitched. One minute we were arguing, the next...fire. Agony seared my throat. He shoved me onto the bed, my head hitting the pillows hard. Stunned, I begged silently, God, please, save me from this monster. His hands were on my throat again, squeezing, stealing my air. Blurred vision, his eyes bloodshot, furious. "How dare you?" he growled. "Consequences, baby." ************************************ He, steeped in darkness, she, bathed in light. A collision was inevitable, a clash of opposing forces that threatened to shatter them both. Would he succumb to the light, or would he drag her down into his darkness? The stakes were higher than either of them could have imagined. This wasn't just love. It was a war for their souls. "So... what about us?" he asked, and I looked at him, a bit bewildered. "What?" I inquired. "You and me... what are we, Sera? You know how you affect me. You make me feel like I'm losing my mind, and I feel incomplete when you're not around. I yearn for your touch, your scent, and everything about you drives me wild," he admitted, his words close to my face. I let out a shaky breath as I felt a warmth spread through my body. "Thad, I think you're getting something wrong," I began, but he interrupted me. "No, you're the one refusing to admit that you're feeling the same way I am," he insisted, causing me to fall silent. He was right, I couldn't deny the feelings i had for him. They had always been there, but they had intensified with his return. ●●●●●●□□□●●□□□●●● In their final year of high school, Thaddeus and Sera epitomized the dream teen couple, envied by all. Blaze White is the New Girl at the Prep school in her mothers old home town. But her only goal for senior year is to keep a low profile, no friends, no parties and NO boys. He is not welcoming of the mysterious beauty despite the pull they both feel. •••• WARNING: This was written many moons ago. I have decided to put it back up because of a large request from readers. However, I was a kid when I wrote this so take it with a grain of salt. *** Like a deer in head lights, I freeze and watch as the car comes towards me expecting to get hit. But to my surprise, the car swerves to the side slightly next to me and comes to a stop. I take a deep breath I didn't know I was holding at the driver's side door swings open and a very pissed off Axel steps out. "Thank god," I mumble and place my hands on my knees to catch my breath. "Blaze?" He says and I hate it. I hate how he says my name as if it's his. Like he knows it's the only thing I want to hear, him calling out to me, looking at me, focused to me. It's the first time in my life I wanted someone's attention so badly I didn't care how I got it. And that was too dangerous for me to hold onto. "Are you insane or some shit? I could have killed you!" He says and starts to walk towards me. I take a big breath and step back away from him, "s-stop! Axel," I stutter still panting. It's then he notices the blood on my hands and shirt. "Is that blood?" He asks staring at my shirt and I take another step back. "Stop, stay b-back," I try to say confidently but I can't even breath right. Realizing he won't listen I start to turn around planning to make a break for it. "Don't run from me Blaze it won't go well," he growls reading my thoughts causing me to freeze in my spot. "Do not ever think you can get away from me."

Reaching my hand into the drawer, I felt around until my hand came into contact with the metal hilt. My fingers curled around the handle instinctively. I gripped the handle so hard it hurt. I could feel the tendons in my wrist snap as my knuckles turned white. I couldn't let him do that to her again. I just couldn't. I had to protect her. I couldn't just stand there still and do nothing forever. I had to act. I winced at the slight sound of the blade dragging against the wooden bottom of the drawer. Although it was more like a sibilant hiss, it sounded more like a large grating sound in my ears. My heart was pounding and my ears were ringing. I could feel my hand holding the blade tremble as I slowly drew it out of the drawer and held it to my side. I had to steel myself for my confrontation. I couldn't hide in the shadows any longer. I had to do something...anything. I couldn't be a bystander anymore. I couldn't bear that pain again. I didn't want it to be all my fault again. [Note: This is a collaborative work]
