"Release me at once!" Was shouted throughout the dim night. "Death is your only friend now, thief!" An enraged voice countered and sent chills down any bystander's spine. "If it weren't for my sword being stripped from my side, your head would be rolling on the very ground that you stand upon." It sounded of no threat, but a promise made by the thief. As I neared the small clearing, the light from the torches burned my poorly adjusted sight. When my vision was finally suitable, I witnessed the thief was indeed a man, his teeth gritted with rage. Though his eyes, the storm within them captivated me so. No man such as he could be labeled as that, especially when his eyes screamed his innocence. "That will be enough." I called out to all those to hear. All cheers, all arguing seized at that moment as they turned to whomever interrupted. "Your Highness." The voice in the crowd was but a whisper, but everyone heard it's ring. Then, his eyes met mine. My breath hitched from his intensity.

They fell in love over a waltz. Married because of a promise. And realized-they had chosen the right person, at the right time. ⸻ In a world where moonlight melts into the air, and drunken promises can become destiny, two kingdoms are bound by a marriage pact no one paused to question: Did the one being given away ever say yes? A "princess" who was never really a princess. A prince who refused to choose a spouse from a portrait. And a masquerade ball where everyone hid their faces-until one brief waltz sowed something unnamed into their hearts. They met beneath the moon, strangers. Married beneath palace lights, unaware. ⸻ This is a story of a ring that slipped off. A glance that lingered. And a husband trying to win back his spouse-only to realize he had fallen long ago. ⸻ Originally posted this story on AO3, as I usually use Wattpad for Vietnamese works. But after seeing some folks on X mentioning that there aren't many JossGawin fics in English on Wattpad, I thought-why not share mine here too? So there you go, enjoy!
