"Release me at once!" Was shouted throughout the dim night.
"Death is your only friend now, thief!" An enraged voice countered and sent chills down any bystander's spine.
"If it weren't for my sword being stripped from my side, your head would be rolling on the very ground that you stand upon." It sounded of no threat, but a promise made by the thief.
As I neared the small clearing, the light from the torches burned my poorly adjusted sight. When my vision was finally suitable, I witnessed the thief was indeed a man, his teeth gritted with rage. Though his eyes, the storm within them captivated me so. No man such as he could be labeled as that, especially when his eyes screamed his innocence.
"That will be enough." I called out to all those to hear. All cheers, all arguing seized at that moment as they turned to whomever interrupted.
"Your Highness." The voice in the crowd was but a whisper, but everyone heard it's ring. Then, his eyes met mine. My breath hitched from his intensity.

"GET OUT OF MY FACE!" His voice was sharp enough to cut through bone, each word laced with a fury I couldn't understand. "You can never be my wife. I hate you. Did you get that? I hate you." Every syllable slammed into me like a physical blow, the echo ringing in my ears long after the words had fallen from his lips. His eyes - cold, unyielding - burned through me, stripping away the fragile strength I'd tried so hard to hold onto. "I don't know what magic you did to my parents, but they've never stopped talking about you!" His voice rose, bitter and accusing. "Do whatever you want, and don't bother me. You are nothing but a gold digger." His words shattered something deep inside me. I stood there, frozen, my hands trembling at my sides, the taste of humiliation thick on my tongue. His each word stabbed into my heart, leaving wounds I wasn't sure would ever heal. And then, without another glance in my direction, he turned and disappeared into his room, slamming the door between us - a door that felt far heavier than wood, as if it was made of every wall he had built around himself. I told myself not to cry. Not to let him see me break. But in that moment, I understood - this wasn't just a marriage of convenience. This was a war I never asked to fight. Juniper and Branch. Boyfriend and Girlfriend. They tell each other everything! Or so you would expect. Juniper is certain, there's no more secret hiding between their relationship. But Branch is keeping a large part of his past hidden deep inside himself, which will soon backfire. ~~~ 𝓡𝓮𝓼𝓾𝓶𝓮: "Stop the Wedding!" Someone's yell comes from the far back of the crowd. Gasps ripple through the guests like a shockwave. Bridget and Gristle freezing in front og the alter. Branch's head jerks left, then right, scanning the landscape, along with every head searching for the source of the voice. My attention is drawn upward. I spot a figure. Far up on the cliffs, small against the sky. Or maybe not small, just far away. The figure slides down the end of a rope, closest to him, connected to the cliff above. I nudge Branch with the back of my hand to get his attention, nodding toward the sky. Branch follows my nod, his gaze catching on to the approaching shadow. His landing is rough. Now that he is basically in the middle of the ceremony, his figure is clear. He's a Troll. His blue skin covered in dust, greenish hair sticking out from under a set of goggles. "Sorry. Is this bad timing?" The moment his face is revealed from behind the goggles, Branch gasps. "I'm just trying to find a Troll named-" The blue Troll locks eyes with Branch, and his face lights up. "Ooh! Baby Branch!" "Hey! Stop right there. I'm the Princess of this Village and I order you to tell us who you are and what you want!" The Troll stops his doings as everything goes still again. "Hey... What's up?" The Troll speaks with a sudden uncertainty, realising a little too late how incredibly bad his timing is. "You're right, Princess - totally rude of me - didn't even introduce myself." Then, he turns to me, straightening his posture and steps forward, attempting to make a formal approach. "I'm Branch's brother." His smile is wide. Completely unthreatening. And my breathing stops.

I flinch as his hand reaches to my face, and aggressively pulls down the cloak from my head. He surveys my tear stained face and jewelry all the way down to my dress. Then he speaks, "what's your name?" I open my mouth but no words come out. Fear grips me again. "I believe I asked you a question," his eyes grow darker. "Al-Alice" I whisper. His eyes wander outside to the window. "You will address me as 'your highness' and I do not tolerate mistakes. I will punish you and you will never forget to follow my orders. [A/N]: Hey guys! Before I post this story, I was going to give a little insight. A very good friend of mine and I decided to write this book, and what better way to recieve constructive critcism than to share with everyone here on wattpad? I'm proud to say that we're nearly finished with it, around three to five more chapters need to be written. However, I will gladly post two chapters a week. Depending on the length, I could possibly split each chapter in two. Enjoy! -Skye & Jasmine My attempts to sleep failed miserably as realization hit me. Tonight was my last night unattached to someone. I swung my legs to one side of the bed. My bare feet brushed the cold floor and sent shivers up my spine. Scotland is much warmer this time of year. I took a few steps toward the window, but before I got too far I heard chatter just outside my door. "She’ll never be happy with him." The first voice, a female, was barely audible. "She could be. She’s just upset about Benjamin." A second voice, a man, replied to the woman. "She’ll never love Derick." A hint of anger played beneath the surface of the woman’s voice. I lay back down after that, so much for Emma accepting our marriage. Unhappiness coursed through my body and I became furious. I’d never love Emma either; with that I went to sleep. I dreamt of my mother singing in the castle, her voice was loud and demanding. Her words flowed so freely from her mouth and danced playfully down the halls. She was in the throne room singing to my father just as she always did. Her song was about the way she learned to love my father. Most marriages in Scotland are arranged, and due to our beliefs they have to work out. My mother had always been so madly in love with my father, but he was hesitant because he had to leave the woman he loved so dearly. So he let her go…
