"Release me at once!" Was shouted throughout the dim night.
"Death is your only friend now, thief!" An enraged voice countered and sent chills down any bystander's spine.
"If it weren't for my sword being stripped from my side, your head would be rolling on the very ground that you stand upon." It sounded of no threat, but a promise made by the thief.
As I neared the small clearing, the light from the torches burned my poorly adjusted sight. When my vision was finally suitable, I witnessed the thief was indeed a man, his teeth gritted with rage. Though his eyes, the storm within them captivated me so. No man such as he could be labeled as that, especially when his eyes screamed his innocence.
"That will be enough." I called out to all those to hear. All cheers, all arguing seized at that moment as they turned to whomever interrupted.
"Your Highness." The voice in the crowd was but a whisper, but everyone heard it's ring. Then, his eyes met mine. My breath hitched from his intensity.

[A/N]: Hey guys! Before I post this story, I was going to give a little insight. A very good friend of mine and I decided to write this book, and what better way to recieve constructive critcism than to share with everyone here on wattpad? I'm proud to say that we're nearly finished with it, around three to five more chapters need to be written. However, I will gladly post two chapters a week. Depending on the length, I could possibly split each chapter in two. Enjoy! -Skye & Jasmine My attempts to sleep failed miserably as realization hit me. Tonight was my last night unattached to someone. I swung my legs to one side of the bed. My bare feet brushed the cold floor and sent shivers up my spine. Scotland is much warmer this time of year. I took a few steps toward the window, but before I got too far I heard chatter just outside my door. "She’ll never be happy with him." The first voice, a female, was barely audible. "She could be. She’s just upset about Benjamin." A second voice, a man, replied to the woman. "She’ll never love Derick." A hint of anger played beneath the surface of the woman’s voice. I lay back down after that, so much for Emma accepting our marriage. Unhappiness coursed through my body and I became furious. I’d never love Emma either; with that I went to sleep. I dreamt of my mother singing in the castle, her voice was loud and demanding. Her words flowed so freely from her mouth and danced playfully down the halls. She was in the throne room singing to my father just as she always did. Her song was about the way she learned to love my father. Most marriages in Scotland are arranged, and due to our beliefs they have to work out. My mother had always been so madly in love with my father, but he was hesitant because he had to leave the woman he loved so dearly. So he let her go…

I flinch as his hand reaches to my face, and aggressively pulls down the cloak from my head. He surveys my tear stained face and jewelry all the way down to my dress. Then he speaks, "what's your name?" I open my mouth but no words come out. Fear grips me again. "I believe I asked you a question," his eyes grow darker. "Al-Alice" I whisper. His eyes wander outside to the window. "You will address me as 'your highness' and I do not tolerate mistakes. I will punish you and you will never forget to follow my orders. "GET OUT OF MY FACE!" His voice was sharp enough to cut through bone, each word laced with a fury I couldn't understand. "You can never be my wife. I hate you. Did you get that? I hate you." Every syllable slammed into me like a physical blow, the echo ringing in my ears long after the words had fallen from his lips. His eyes - cold, unyielding - burned through me, stripping away the fragile strength I'd tried so hard to hold onto. "I don't know what magic you did to my parents, but they've never stopped talking about you!" His voice rose, bitter and accusing. "Do whatever you want, and don't bother me. You are nothing but a gold digger." His words shattered something deep inside me. I stood there, frozen, my hands trembling at my sides, the taste of humiliation thick on my tongue. His each word stabbed into my heart, leaving wounds I wasn't sure would ever heal. And then, without another glance in my direction, he turned and disappeared into his room, slamming the door between us - a door that felt far heavier than wood, as if it was made of every wall he had built around himself. I told myself not to cry. Not to let him see me break. But in that moment, I understood - this wasn't just a marriage of convenience. This was a war I never asked to fight. I couldn't bring myself to hate him-after all, he's my husband... and I'm The Wife He Never Chose. Mature content🔞 THE images belong to their right full owner, I don't own any of them !

He laughs, the sound rich and rough, sending a shiver down my spine. "God, you're infuriating." I mutter, glaring at him as our blades lock. "And you're intoxicating." He replies, his voice dropping to a whisper. My breath hitches. In that split second of distraction, he twists his blade, knocking my cutlass from my hands. Before I can react, he steps forward, pinning me against the railing, his blade at my throat. His breath brushes my skin, his green eyes dark and unreadable as they stare into mine. "Yield?" He murmurs, his voice soft but dangerous. My chest heaves. Our breaths mingling in the narrow space between us. His eyes are locked on mine, dark and smoldering, and I can't look away. "Never." I breathe, my heart hammering in my chest. The tension between us snaps, sharp and undeniable. His gaze drops to my lips, lingering there for a moment that stretches impossibly long. *********** They never asked to be chosen. They never asked for a prophecy. But destiny doesn't care what they want. Isabella's world shatters when she and her friends are thrust into a realm of magic, danger, and secrets older than time itself. Forced into a fight they don't fully understand, they must rely on each other-and on the mysterious stranger who carries more shadows than answers. As love blossoms where it shouldn't, as loyalty is tested, and as grief carves its mark into their hearts, Isabella learns that strength isn't born from power-it's forged in the bonds we refuse to let break. But every victory comes at a cost. And when one war ends, another begins. Epic, romantic, and heart-wrenching, a story of friendship, sacrifice, and the kind of love that refuses to be forgotten-even in the face of destiny.

(STORY IS BEING UPDATED - 04/23/2025) "What is your name?" he asked, his voice a deep, commanding thunder that rolled across the great hall. I stood before the Red Dragon in all his ruthless glory. Towering. Fearsome. Every breath he took seemed to shake the walls-but I refused to tremble. I said nothing. The guards moved in, seizing me by the neck, forcing me to bow. "BOW, YOU FILTHY WOMAN! ANSWER!" one of them roared. Still, I remained defiant. And strangely... they let go. The crowd hushed. Celebration faded to silence. I could hear the click of his boots as he stepped down from his throne. Draya's whisper brushed my ear. "Answer him..." "You dare defy me?" he growled, his eyes flashing gold with something ancient and untamed. I straightened my spine, though my voice caught in my throat. Still, I forced the words out. "I will not give you my name. You don't deserve to know it." Gasps rippled through the room. A hand, rough and merciless, wrapped around my throat. The Red Dragon's. "Why don't you tremble in my presence?" he hissed. I laughed-a bold, reckless sound. "Because I don't bow to men like you. I never will. Go ahead, choke me if you must. That seems to be what you're best at." He laughed then. Low and dark. A sound that promised danger-and something far worse. "I have my ways of making you surrender," he said, his lips curling into a wicked smirk. And in that moment, I knew-I wasn't facing a man. I was staring into the eyes of something far more dangerous.
