In high school you worry about getting your homework done. Dances. Tests. And passing classes.

Not for Ella Ryland.

Instead, Ella worries about helping her parents pay rent. Coping with deaths. Feeding her family and, staying alive.
Her family depends on Ella so much that the thought of her not being there scares her.

After Ella is diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma her world turns upside down. She worries for her family deeply, but she also wants to die. Her life is so stressful as is, and there are so many secrets she keeps to herself, which she doesn't tell a single soul. So she rejects medical help.

She wants to die. She still goes to school, regardless of her condition. She has only a few months maybe a year left without help, but if she does get help within the limit they might be able to save her.

Then she's paired with the schools bad boy Brent Anderson for a project. He knows she has secrets. And he'll do anything to find out exactly what they are.
