I ran as fast as I could, my feet hit the pavement with a thud. My heart was pounding and my palms were sweating. The sirens were getting closer which made me run faster. I heard footsteps behind me and knew it was a police officer. Damn it, they can’t catch me, I will not go back into that hell hole. I’m as good as dead if they send me back to him. I looked to my right and saw a line of bushes and behind them was a neighborhood. I quickly jumped into the bushes and ran toward the first house.
