Rose was a girl living in New York at the time of attack by the Asgardian Warrior Loki, though I wouldn't say that she is completely normal. Rose had always had these powers, and she wanted to use them for good. She started to help the Avengers in their attack against Loki, but against her family's wishes. After the attack she went back to her downtown Manhattan apartment to see her family. She couldn't find them, because they were looking for her on the streets. They were vaporized, and Rose knew it deep down. She always wanted to be a superhero but after what happened to her family. Will she use her powers for good or for evil?
